First Trip Away From LadyGrace

Last weekend was my first weekend away from home since LadyGrace arrived. I was like a new mother who was nervous about leaving my young ones. Although I am lucky in that I have two wonderful people (Jaffee & Wendi) who were willing to watch over all my animals, I was still worried.

This was to be an overnight trip! Honestly - I know I'm being silly but I truly love being around my animals. And, like any mother, "no one an take care of them like I can." Jaffee and Wendi were wonderful. They both called or sent a text messages to me letting me know that they had been to my place and taken care of all the animals.

I am blessed to have such wonderful friends that LIKE animals and understand the emotions involved with them.

The trip was wonderful but I couldn't wait to get back. As I rode the dome train, I read a wonderful book called "What Your Horse Wants You To Know" by Gincy Self Bucklin. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a horse.

As soon as I got back, I ran over to see LadyGrace to try out something "new" I had read in this book. To my amazement, it worked!

The most important thing is that horses are sensitive to the human moods and LadyGrace is no exception! She must know when I'm in a hurry or annoyed with something or someone. I find it amazing that she can do that.

Another lesson to learn - just because they are horses, they still feel our feelings and "act" upon them. If we're calm, they will be calm. If we are fearful or agitated, they mirror what we are feeling.

The wisdom is in recognizing what's going on and then, shifting ones energy. It an be done quickly by being present.

When I got home that night, I didn't change my clothes - I just ran to the paddock and gave her a big hug!

I was so happy to see her! And, she was happy to see me!
